Last week the central and southern mountains received 12-24 inches of snow, reminding us that the next season of visitors will soon be planning their trip to Salida! We are located just 20 minutes from the family friendly and independent Monarch Mountain ski area.
But, what do we do in Salida now that the leaves have fallen and we wait for the snow to pile up and we can ski at monarch mountain? Late October and November still offer warm daytime temps perfect for hiking and biking. The number of visitors have declined so it’s a perfect time to check out a new restaurant. Many locals are out and about enjoying the quiet time. If you’ve never traveled here for Halloween you’re missing out on our annual Thriller dance on F street. November 29th also brings the parade of lights where Santa comes to town for the holiday season and lights tenderfoot mountain, the largest Christmas tree in the Country. November is the best time to support our local shops, and get an early start on your Christmas list.
