This time of year the pace slows a little from Spring Break and ski season is winding down.  This weekend Monarch Mountain held the inaugural ski ballet competition on Freeway, next weekend will be packed full of closing weekend festivities, tailgating, soft slushy turns, and the Gun Barrel challenge.

April /May Events

April often brings warmer days but if you are planning a visit soon its probably a great idea to bring some cold weather essentials.  Just this past week we saw over a 30 degree temperature change from mild 60’s to frigid 30’s all in a few days.  Late night cool temps are keeping the water levels low and calm, perfect for fishing I am told. Check out conditions here Arkansas River fishing.

Many of our lower elevation trails are ready for exploring and most days the sunshine will make for a pleasant day outdoors.   Be sure to check trail conditions at Absolute Bikes or Salida Mountain Trails before heading out.

The baseball teams area in full action and the Osprey have been busy in their nest.
